HPE engineers began configuring and testing the Slingshot interconnection network for the Derecho system this week. The hardware checkout phase also began this week, and HPE has identified and replaced some faulty and marginal hardware on the system. This hardware checkout phase will continue for at least another week.
The Cheyenne1 login node is scheduled for maintenance on February 23rd 10am - 2pm None planned for Casper, GLADE, Campaign Storage, Quasar, Stratus, or JupyterHub.
Researchers who want help visualizing data to demonstrate the results of their scientific computing can request expert assistance and collaboration from CISL. This service is available to researchers using specialized applications on data analysis and visualization resources that CISL manages. CISL visualization staff have special expertise in CISL-developed software such as VAPOR but are open ...
A single Cheyenne login node – cheyenne1 – will stop receiving new connections on Monday, February 20, to minimize the impact of hardware maintenance scheduled for that node from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. MST on Thursday, February 23. User sessions that remain active at the start of the maintenance downtime on Thursday will be terminated. Users who are affected can simply log in again to be placed on o...
Video recordings and other content from the recent Dask tutorial are now available to the user community at Using Dask on HPC Systems. The tutorial focuses on the effective use of Dask on high-performance computing systems like Derecho and Casper. Presented by the CISL Consulting Services Group and the NCAR Earth System Data Science Initiative, it starts with a session for novice Dask users and...
CISL has implemented the changes that were announced in January to account for the use of GPU resources on the Casper cluster. The charging algorithm update for jobs on shared CPU nodes on both Casper and Cheyenne also has been implemented. Projects that have used Casper GPU resources in the past year have all now received an initial GPU-hours allocation based on that previous use. Charges will...
