CISL recommends running small jobs that use only CPUs on the Casper cluster’s high-throughput computing (HTC) nodes. Casper has 64 HTC nodes specifically for running small batch jobs. It also has: • More shared resources than the Cheyenne share queue • A far higher concurrent-use limit for CPU cores than Cheyenne: 468 vs. 36. • More available memory, plus NVMe swap for overflow. Here’s an ex...
None planned for Cheyenne, Casper, Glade, HPSS, Campaign Storage, Quasar, Stratus, or JupyterHub.
Beginning October 20, as recently announced, users will be able to submit jobs to run on the Cheyenne and Casper systems from either of those systems with the introduction of the new peer-scheduling capability. To make peer scheduling possible, environmental settings will no longer be propagated from the submission host to PBS jobs on Cheyenne. Please see Propagating environment settings to a P...
Stratus will be down from 10 AM - 12 PM, Monday the Sept 27th for hardware work. Nothing planned for Cheyenne, Casper, GLADE, Campaign Store, JupyterHub, or Quasar.
Reminder! The HPSS tape archive will be decommissioned on Friday, October 1, at 5 p.m. MDT. This means file owners have just a few days left to access their files. Though time is growing short, you can still copy files. At present, the system is not very busy and enough bandwidth is available to allow for quick turnaround. If you need guidance, start here. If you have questions, please contact ...
CISL is developing and testing peer-scheduling capability between Cheyenne and Casper, through which users will be able to submit jobs from Cheyenne to Casper, from Casper to Cheyenne, and craft job-dependency rules between jobs on both systems. More details on how to use this capability will come in future updates and documentation. All job submissions on Cheyenne currently are configured to i...
