On August 9, the new Derecho supercomputer officially opened to NCAR’s broader HPC user community. While Cheyenne will remain in service through December 31, all current NCAR HPC users are encouraged to migrate their workflows from Cheyenne to Derecho now rather than later. CISL is now accepting allocation requests from university-based researchers for the new Derecho system and the Casper data analysis and visualization cluster. Those requests are due September 12. Projects with Cheyenne allocations can now make requests to transfer core-hours to the Derecho system via the ARC portal. The Derecho system will be opening to all users on August 9. To make a transfer request, log into ARC, and select Allocations from the navigation menu. Under “My Allocations,” find the project with the Cheyenne core-hours you want to transfer.
