Join a seminar about solving solar mysteries with deep learning

February 13, 2026

On Monday, February 23, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm MT, join the High Altitude Observatory (HAO) for a colloquium on the intersection of space weather and artificial intelligence. The talk is entitled “What Kinds Of Problems In Solar Physics And Space Weather Are Well Solved By Deep Learning?

Dr. Yong-Jae Moon will introduce recent deep learning applications tailored to solar and space weather data, including image translations for solar farside magnetograms and 2D to 3D conversions. Dr. Moon will also explore the use of symbolic regression and Generative Pre-trained Transformers (GPT) to improve space weather forecasting and reduce simulation times.

This is a hybrid event held at the Center Green 1 building at 3080 Center Green Drive, room CG1-3131. Virtual participants may join the session via Google Meet.
