Recently, a new set of Casper login nodes have been added as available login options for Casper HPC users. Specifically, three nodes crlogin[1-3] were added and users who login via
casper.hpc.ucar.edu may be assigned these new nodes.
If in any of your workflows or scripts you have manually specified either of the two casper-login[1-2].hpc.ucar.edu login nodes as the Casper login hostname, please update this to any of the new crlogin[1-3].hpc.ucar.edu hostnames. The old nodes and thus direct login requests to the casper-login[1-2] nodes will be disabled January 11th 2026 or soon after.
The generic interface option utilizing casper.hpc.ucar.edu will continue to work and randomly assign incoming login requests to an available Casper login node. This continues to be the preferred method for logging onto the Casper HPC cluster for most users.
