On Wednesday, October 15, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. MT, join the High Altitude Observatory (HAO) for an in-person colloquium. The talk is entitled "The Observatory at Climax: Art, Science, and the History of the High-Altitude Observatory."
Hanna Rose Shell, a historian of science and art at the University of Colorado Boulder, will tell the story of the establishment of the Fremont Pass Station (the first name given to the High-Altitude Observatory) by Walter Orr Roberts in 1940. This event will explore the legacy of the Climax Observatory through the lenses of history, science, and art.
