Later this month, NSF NCAR will host a workshop, entitled “Co-Development Discovery Workshop: Scientific Software Best Practices, Tools, and Culture.”
The event will take place from Wednesday, August 20 to Thursday, August 21, occurring both on-location in Boulder, CO and online.
The goals of this workshop are as follows:
- To learn from best practices at other organizations, developing ideas that inform the NSF NCAR process and framework of software co-development between scientists and software engineers, and identifying ways to improve efficiency within the co-development space in communications, collaboration, and decision-making.
- To hear how other organizations provide support and professional development, and how they develop culture and communities of practice within their software engineering teams.
Anticipated agenda topics include: decision making, communications and team dynamics, better platform agility, automation, GPU optimization, adapting to new hardware, software career support and processes, and more.
