Project Pythia proudly announces the addition of the "
Earth Observation Data Science Cookbook," a valuable resource contributed by the Department of Geodesy and Geoinformation at TU Wien (Austria’s Vienna University of Technology). This cookbook, tailored for the university community, provides practical examples of Pangeo-based workflows applied to real-world Earth Observation (EO) data science scenarios.
Developed with strong ties to the Earth Observation Data Centre For Water Resources Monitoring (EODC), the cookbook leverages analysis-ready Sentinel-1 data and high-performance computing resources. It aims to bridge the gap between traditional Earth system science and the burgeoning field of "big data science" in EO through course materials, tutorials, and general EO task examples.
Users can easily run the interactive Jupyter notebooks via Binder in the cloud, or set up their local environments using provided instructions. The cookbook also showcases the EODC's data and services, including a STAC catalogue and Dask Gateway for distributed data processing.
Project Pythia is an education and training hub for the geoscientific Python community.
