New JupyterHub Kernels Available

New versions of data analysis language kernels are now available on our HPC JupyterHub service, including NPL 2025a (Python), R 4.4, Julia 1.11.2, IDL 9.1.0, and Matlab R2024b. The libraries included in the NPL and R environments also provide the latest compatible package versions as determined by the Conda package manager. Because we are using newer language versions in these environments (3.12 for Python and 4.4 for R), the following packages are incompatible and were not included in these new environments:

  • NPL 2025a - ldcpy, pyngl, and wrf-python
  • R 4.4 - rgdal (replaced with sf and stars packages as recommended)

If you require these packages, you may still access them in previous versions of each respective language kernel.
