From February 25th to 27th, join the
Open Hackathon taking place both virtually and in-person, with virtual introduction meetings held on February 12th and 18th. The hybrid event will be held in Golden, CO, at the campus of the National Renewable Energy Library (NREL).
Researchers and computational scientists typically enter the Hackathon with goals to improve and optimize their applications. Read last year’s
CISL News article to find out how the 2023 teams optimized their code in ways “that would excite a lot of technical folks,” often speeding up their applications 20-fold and even 90-fold!
Open Hackathons are multi-day, intensive hands-on events designed to facilitate collaboration between domain scientists, computational scientists, and research software engineers. Teams are encouraged to apply with ongoing or new projects towards the goal of improving their software, such as by adding well defined features, porting code to new architectures, or accelerating and optimizing their applications on a variety of data center architectures including CPUs and GPUs. Mentors from the larger computational science community will be assigned to each accepted team. The hackathon is hosted by NREL, NSF NCAR, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Teams of at least three members are welcome to
apply by
Wednesday, December 4th, 2024.
