Survey - Core Hours and Carbon Credits

August 21, 2024

A survey by the University of Chicago on “Core Hours and Carbon Credits: Incentivizing Sustainability in Computing” is being conducted on the energy consumption of HPC resources. The study aims to assess the energy cost of running applications on different resources and how user behavior can influence energy consumption. As part of this work, participants are needed with respect to the energy awareness of users in the HPC field. Anyone who uses HPC resources is eligible.

The study is accessible here and includes a short survey, followed by a game where the user simulates their choices of computing resources when submitting a job. No personally identifiable information will be collected as part of the study and should take at most 15 minutes. If you have any questions, please email Alok Kamatar at alokvk2@uchicago.edu
