Cheyenne suffered a cooling distribution unit (CDU) failure over the Thanksgiving holiday, causing two racks of compute nodes to go down until repairs can be completed. Service is underway but the venerable machine is in a degraded state with less than a month until decommissioning. Until repairs are completed, network performance is expected to be somewhat degraded particularly for large node-count jobs. CISL staff anticipates restoration to full capacity the first week of December at the earliest, however we will monitor developments as the repairs progress.
