Automated file compression enabled for NCAR Campaign Storage

CISL is implementing automated file compression for data on the Campaign Storage file system. This action is completely transparent to user applications and subsequent file access. No user action is necessary.

As detailed here, large files will be compressed automatically 180 days after creation, allowing the file system to hold large data sets more efficiently for extended durations. It will also result in more efficient use of allocated storage space for users.
