Attend a seminar about climate-resilient urban transportation

June 1, 2026

On Wednesday, July 8, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm MT, join the Research Applications Laboratory (RAL) at NSF NCAR for a special presentation. The talk is entitled "NO-HEAT: Integrating Microclimate Modeling and Transportation Planning for Resilient Urban Futures." Speaker Rounaq Basu, an assistant professor from the Georgia Institute of Technology, will explore how extreme heat impacts active transit choices.

Dr. Basu will discuss the Neutralizing Onerous Heat Effects on Active Transportation (NO-HEAT) Initiative, which aims to make walking, biking, and transit safer during severe heatwaves. The session will highlight how open-source data and decision-support tools can help urban planners proactively mitigate heat risks and enhance climate justice.

This hybrid event is free to attend and will be held in person at the NCAR-Foothills Laboratory at 3450 Mitchell Lane, room FL2-1001. Virtual participants can access the presentation via the watch live link
