Join a seminar about solar corona diagnostics

April 27, 2026

On Friday, May 15 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm MT, join the High Altitude Observatory (HAO) at NSF NCAR for a technical presentation on solar physics. The talk is entitled “Probing The Solar Corona With The Solar Orbiter/Metis Coronagraph: From Instrumentation To CME Diagnostics.

Yara De Leo will discuss the dual-channel imaging capabilities of the Solar Orbiter Metis coronagraph, focusing on its ability to provide simultaneous observations of the extended solar corona in visible light and ultraviolet emission. Dr. De Leo will explain how in-flight calibration and three-dimensional reconstruction techniques allow researchers to track Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) and derive essential plasma parameters like electron density and mass.

This hybrid event will take place in person at the Center Green campus in room CG1-3131, located at 3080 Center Green Drive, Boulder, CO. The event is open to the public. Remote participants may join via the live webcast.
