NCAR HPC User Group

Created by BJ Smith, last modified on 2021-11-04

The NCAR HPC User Group (NHUG) advises CISL on current and future HPC systems, configurations and initiatives, including the need for training and workshops on current HPC software, tools, and technologies. Members are selected from currently active users of CISL computing systems who are at least one of the following:

  • Extensive users of our HPC or data analysis systems (for example, those having large NCAR Strategic Capability, University of Wyoming, or other university allocations).
  • Developers or maintainers of computational models, data analysis software, visualization software, and/or workflow configurations for our users.
  • Extensive HPC users at other centers in addition to CISL systems.
  • Users from minority-serving institutions or underrepresented groups.
  • Campus Champions or facilitators (experienced users who help others in a campus or classroom setup) of CISL resource users.

If you meet any of these criteria, we solicit your input and encourage you to participate. If you are interested, please email with a short description of how you meet one or more of the above criteria.

Communication channel

We maintain NHUG Wiki (link temporarily unavailable) to keep meeting agendas, minutes, and so on. This channel complements our user service offerings and is not a replacement for CISL user support services.

Monthly meetings

Members join in monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of each month from 9-10 a.m. Mountain time.

Special interest groups

Special interest groups are subsets of members focused on common interests or goals. These groups form organically as per the needs at the time.
