On Tuesday, August 26 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. MT, join the NSF NCAR Earth Observing Laboratory (EOL) and the Atmospheric Chemistry Observations and Modeling Laboratory (ACOM) for a joint seminar. The talk, entitled "From Glass Bulbs to Breakthroughs: 20 Years of Tropical UTLS Water Vapor and Ozone Observations in Costa Rica," is presented by Holger Vömel, a scientist with the EOL.
This presentation will chronicle two decades of atmospheric measurements in Costa Rica. Balloon-borne instruments have provided the only continuous tropical stratospheric water vapor observations and contributed essential validation data for satellite missions. Dr. Vömel will reveal key insights into climate processes, volcanic monitoring, and the atmospheric tape recorder phenomenon.
The seminar will be hybrid, with in-person attendance and a
live webcast; virtual participants may ask questions via Slido. In-person attendees may join the seminar at the NSF NCAR-Foothills Laboratory at 3450 Mitchell Lane, in room FL2-1022, which is the Large Seminar Auditorium. Refreshments will be served starting at 3:15 p.m. MT.
