Join a seminar about turbulent magnetic reconnection

July 21, 2025

On Wednesday, July 30, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm MT, join the High Altitude Observatory (HAO) at NSF NCAR for a seminar with Dr. Yi Qi. The talk is entitled "Magnetotail Turbulent Reconnection and Associated Particle Energization."

This seminar will explore magnetic reconnection and plasma turbulence, inspecting their intrinsic relationship and how they influence each other. Dr. Qi will present a unique case study of an electron diffusion region observed by the Magnetospheric Multiscale mission, highlighting its features and the particle energization processes during turbulent reconnection.

This hybrid event will be held in-person at NSF NCAR’s Mesa Lab, 1850 Table Mesa Drive, room CG1-3131, and also virtually via this webcast link.

Dr. Qi is a research scientist at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP), with a research focus on magnetic reconnection and associated plasma processes in Earth's magnetosphere.
