The Casper cluster now has 64 new high-throughput computing (HTC) nodes, which are for batch jobs that require the use of one full node or less. The new nodes are prioritized by the job scheduler and will fill before placing you on older generation HTC nodes. New documentation provides details on the
new node specifications and also how to
target specific nodes on Casper using PBS.
New HTC node specification summary:
- AMD EPYC 9554P 64-core 3.10GHZ CPU
- 768GB DDR5 Memory
- 62 usable cores, 2 reserved for the operating system
These nodes are expected to provide additional compute resources and reduce queue times for Casper. Users should see a noticeable performance improvement on similar CPU workflows when compared to the older generation HTC nodes.
