Apply by March 15 to the LEAP summer research programs for undergrads and grads

February 21, 2025

Learning the Earth with Artificial Intelligence and Physics (LEAP) is an NSF Science Technology Center launched in 2021. Applications are now open for its two 10-week summer research programs for undergrads and grads, taking place from Tuesday, May 27 to Friday, August 1, with five research projects based in New York or Boulder.

The application deadline for both is Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:59 pm EST (which translates to 9:59 pm MT).

LEAP’s summer 2025 Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program is open to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors at U.S. institutions. This program partners with the NSF SOARS. Participants receive a stipend of $700 per week for the duration of the program, with housing and travel funds available. Undergrads apply here.

LEAP’s summer 2025 Momentum Graduate Fellowship program invites applications from data science PhD students at U.S. institutions who are interested in climate or data science. Fellows are expected to work for an average of 25 hours each week for 10 weeks; each fellow is awarded an $8,000 summer stipend, with additional travel and housing support potentially available. Grads apply here.
