The deadline to apply to participate in the NOAA / NCAR / NREL Open Hackathon has been extended to after AGU, Monday Dec 16th 11:59pm PT. The event with virtual attendance option is scheduled for February 25th to 27th 2025, to be held at the NREL campus in Golden, CO, with virtual introduction meetings on the 12th and 18th. 

Open Hackathons are multi-day, hands-on events designed to facilitate collaboration between domain scientists, computational scientists, and research software engineers. Teams are encouraged to apply with ongoing or new projects towards the goal of improving their software, such as by adding well defined features, porting code to new architectures, or accelerating and optimizing their applications on a variety of data center architectures including CPUs and GPUs. Mentors from the larger computational science community will be assigned to each accepted team.
