December 4, 2024

Please join NSF NCAR’s Cooperative Programs for the Advancement of Earth System Science (CPAESS) for a virtual seminar talk with Dr. Charlotte Waterfall, NASA Jack Eddy Postdoctoral Fellow, Goddard Space Flight Center–NASA.

The talk, which takes place Wednesday, December 18, from 10:00 to 11:00 am MT, is entitled “Flares, Storms, and Space Weather: Tracing solar eruptions and their journey to Earth.”

Dr. Waterfall will discuss the basics of heliophysics, and how solar events create space weather that affects Earth’s atmosphere, technology, and our daily lives. She will also talk about notable space weather events from history, overview the current fleet of spacecraft observing the Sun, and briefly look at her current research.

This event takes place fully online. Participants can watch the live broadcast and utilize Slido for questions during the seminar.

This event is part of the CPAESS Discovery Seminars series. It will be recorded and published on the CPAESS YouTube Channel.
