A virtual tutorial on optimizing I/O in serial and parallel applications will be hosted from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. MT June 12-14 by the University of Texas, San Antonio. This three-day tutorial will help NCAR HPC users prepare for the upcoming transition to Derecho’s Lustre parallel file system. Topics will include parallel file systems (Lustre), MPI I/O, and I/O in the context of checkpointing and AI. Hands-on exercises, demos, and examples will also be provided.
Participants may register for one of more days of the tutorial, which will include:
- June 12: 1) Strategies and practices for reducing inefficient I/O in serial and parallel applications, including AI frameworks, and 2) Introduction to parallel file systems (Lustre)
- June 13: Reading and writing files in parallel using MPI
- June 14: Checkpointing serial and parallel applications
