Simulations run on the Cheyenne high-performance computing system at the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center indicate that the likelihood of a calamitous flood in California has doubled because of climate change, according to the NCAR scientists who conducted a recent study.
The scientists used the Cheyenne system to couple the Community Earth System Model and the Weather and Research Forecasting Model to simulate multi-week storms. See
