Default Cheyenne and Casper modules being updated Monday

December 16, 2021

Reminder: CISL will update a number of default environment modules on the Cheyenne and Casper systems on Monday, December 20.

  • The default Intel version will advance from 19.0.5 to 19.1.1.
  • The default netCDF will advance from 4.7.4 to 4.8.1.
  • The GCC and NVIDIA HPC compilers will have default versions set to 10.1.0 and 21.9.
  • CUDA 11.4.0 will be added to the default set of modules on Casper.

Further changes to defaults are anticipated in early 2022, including increments to MPT and Open MPI versions.

Also, as announced earlier, new versions of many other software packages – including netCDF, HDF5, NCO, CDO, GDAL, R, Singularity, and CMake – were installed recently on both Cheyenne and Casper. New releases of MPT (version 2.25) and Arm Forge (version 21.1.1) also have been installed, resolving known bugs relating to collective parallel IO and memory debugging, respectively. The parallel IO bug in MPT affects versions 2.23 and 2.24, which are now considered deprecated, and those modules will be removed in a future update. Users wishing to advance from version 2.22 of MPT should skip directly to 2.25.
