Did you know? Two ways of sharing data with colleagues via Globus

August 26, 2021

Researchers who need to share large amounts of data with colleagues can do that a couple of different ways with the NCAR Data Sharing Service: By giving them easy access to files on the Campaign Storage file system or by sharing files short-term in a shared 50 TB space of their own.

Suppose you have files on Campaign Storage. You can share them through a special “NCAR Campaign Storage" Globus endpoint without copying or transferring anything.

Now, suppose you have files in your scratch space that you want to share with someone else. You can make your own Globus endpoint, copy the files there, and point your colleague to them.

Individuals you’re sharing with don’t need an NCAR user account to retrieve the files. All they need is a Globus account. See NCAR Data Sharing Service for step-by-step instructions.
