Proposals for university Accelerated Scientific Discovery (ASD) projects on Derecho and requests for large university allocations on Cheyenne are due soon:
The ASD program is a unique opportunity for a small group of large-scale computational projects to have nearly exclusive use of the Derecho system for a few months. ASD teams will work closely with NCAR’s high-performance computing staff to optimize their workflows, ensure that the environment is properly configured for maximum efficiency, and demonstrate the capabilities of the new 19.87-petaflops system.
The fall large allocation proposals from university researchers should request time on Cheyenne only. Projects will be given a chance to transfer allocations to Derecho in mid-2022.
Derecho will become operational in the first half of 2022. Cheyenne will remain in service through December 2022.
